Thanks for taking the time to reach out! If you look at the Maverik MX EKG Goalie chest pads, Maverik does a great job of labeling their pads to let customers know that their pads are NOCSAE certified which is under the SEI umbrella of certifications. If you look at these pads you will see a giant red sticker on the External Kardiac Guard (EKG) which is in the middle of the pads labeling it "NOCSAE Certified". If that sticker is no longer there, Maverik added a small red tag that is connect to the EKG guard that let's you know that these pads are NOCSAE Certified. Hope this helps!

Can you? Yes. Would that be something smart to do? No. Not only would you ruin the chest protector, you would put yourself at risk of getting hurt or risk passing away. Not to mention it would void your warranty. The "heart pads" or better known as the "EKG pads" were added to chest pads to protect against Commotio Cordis. Which is an injury that was causing deaths to lacrosse players who were getting hit it the chest by lacrosse balls in games. With this being a goalie chest pad and you or your lacrosse player being a goalie. There will be a high percentage that you will get hit by lacrosse balls. So limit risks to cause deaths.
