Details

The STX Shield uses C-Channel technology to increase strength and stiffness especially in the top and bottom side rails. Previous goalie heads on occasion would fail against high velocity shots that hit top scoop forcing the head to bend backward and allow goals.

The STX Shield has been designed to have increased torsional rigidity in the sidewalls. This prevents the sidewall from warping and bending backward when facing heavy shots. The effective saving area of the shield is ultimately greater by stiffening the side rails and allowing you to utilize the entire face of the head to save shots.

Awful Head!

Broke on the very first shot! Very heavy! Too expensive! Lots of other good options out there. Would not recommend this head to anyone.

great head

i have used this head for 2 seasons in a row. great head though after using it for about a season and a half it starts to lose its stiffness especially in the heat. The throat of the head is so comfortable when in stance. My biggest complaint is the weight of the head but overall it's great.

BETTER THAN NEMI 2

I had the Nemesis two and after only two months as a backup, so I didn't play in games all that often, the sidewalls broke. after that got the shield. BEST GOALIE HEAD ON THE MARKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Head, But Common Weakpoint

I am a college goalie and a big fan of both the Shield and the Eclipse. The Shield is definitely stiffer but eventually it becomes just as flexible as the Eclipse. I love the head, but I just broke mine making a save against a D-pole, the throat cracked vertically all the way around the head. This is a common problem, but the only downside I've found with it.

great head

Great head, a lot stiffer then the eclipse. I have set up recently 12D jimalax mesh with a decent channel. I'm basic so they seem to string alot easier on all types of heads. Took trail and error to get 12D on the STX Shield but trying is better then not doing at all. youtube videos are awesome for these types of stuff.

Favorite head

i used the eclipse and the nemesis 2, but i love the shield the most. The nemesis 2 was a good head, but wasn't as stiff. It also didn't string as well as the shield.

Good goalie head

It was good and then it snapped near the top of the hand grip. But lasted me 6 months. I play a lot and very competitive. And I will be getting another one to replace my broken one.
