The STX Proton U is based on the classic shape of the original proton but provides more toughness. With STX's forward cant you will be able to get the ball to the optimal release point for superior accuracy. Overall, this head was mainly developed to have a wide face to help players who struggle with catching the ball. If you are thinking about picking up the game of lacrosse then the Proton U is perfect to help ease the transition while you develope your game.

I needed a wider and stiffer head since switching from LSM to close defense. I was going to get the X10, but I've known too many guys that snap the sidewalls all the time. The price for this super stiff head is unbeatable. It strings up perfectly for a great defensive pocket. I've laid some pretty hard checks and pokes and the head barely even warps at all. For an affordable and great defensive head, it doesn't get much better than this.Review by CH (Posted on 10/25/2016)
I play defense and I love this head. It is very stiff and is wide enough to make catching easy even while on the move or while playing defenseReview by Hams (Posted on 10/25/2016)
I got this for replacing my old head and it was worth it. It's great for defense. Good for ground balls.Review by Santino (Posted on 10/25/2016)
It is great for catching and gbs.Review by Pgh laxer (Posted on 10/25/2016)
This head is great. It is really stiff so it is great for defense and it is easy to string up. It is really wide but it's ok because it's for defense. Great price also!Review by Blue (Posted on 10/25/2016)
this head is amazing for defensive. Its not that great for any other position though, because it is so wideReview by bo$$ (Posted on 10/25/2016)
I am an attackman and I am aware this head was designed for defensemen in mind ;however I use this head and it is great for catching in traffic and it is incredibly stiff on groundballs which makes them easier to scoop. I would defiantly buy this again.Review by Peter (Posted on 10/25/2016)
It could be a little bit more narrow and a LOT LIGHTER.Review by That Boss Attack (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Overall it's a good head with a great price.
Great head. Because its so wide you can block a lot of passes and shots. You an land some pretty hard checks and this baby wont budge. Doesn't warp at all. Because there are so many side holes its really easy to string and it makes a great pocket. If I had to get another head for some reason i would definatly get the Proton U again. 5/5Review by Pink the Animal (Posted on 10/25/2016)
This is a good, cheap head, and is well worth the value. Its very wide and stiff, and does not lose its shape that much. I would recommend this head for a long pole of any age. The only grief I have with this head is that it snapped in the third game I used it in, when it got stepped on scrapping for a GB. Overall, great head, just needs a little more flexibility.Review by Bad Bill (Posted on 10/25/2016)
last weekend i used this in a tournament and after all the checks i gave and took this head hardly budgedReview by dpole25 (Posted on 10/25/2016)
the best lacrosse headReview by Jake (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Broke within 1 month. Warped after my first ggame.Review by Wyatt (Posted on 10/25/2016)
I use it for defense and I start and play all game and it doesn't bend or break an I like it a lot.Review by bobby.laxstar (Posted on 10/25/2016)
O only lasted half of a seasonReview by Rlags (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Great all around head for any position even though it is a defensive head.Review by Kingsize (Posted on 10/25/2016)
It a great close d head but after 1 season it was warped. the head is a bit too wide and my friends have trouble stringing it for me. its wideness helps with GBs thoughReview by sean (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Defensively, the Proton U holds up just as well (in my experience with it) as any other head I've ever played with. It has good weight to throw head-heavy checks and is reasonably durable. My only complaint is that the head became less stiff as the weather got warmer, this is because I bought a colored one - it became a little too flexible after not much use.Review by crocotyle (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Great for defence or midfieldReview by sean (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Great head for the new defensive player or the one on a budget. Not as good as the STX Hammer, but for half the cost, it's a better value. Solid D head!Review by CoachD (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Use this head all the time on my d-pole. Can make solid hard hits, and easy to snag passes with the wide head.Review by Kool-Aid Lax (Posted on 10/25/2016)
mine broke in my second practice. but it is a good head.Review by bryan (Posted on 10/25/2016)
I got this head right as the regular season before the tourneys. This head is super stiff and throws extremely painful poke checks. The only reason it isn't getting 5 stars is because the head is heavy and since the scoop is more of a v than a u it has drag and is inconsistent on GBs. It is pinched so you can intercept passes but is also good enough for a close defender that clears the ball a lot or an lsm.Review by Bob the Builder (Posted on 10/25/2016)
