The STX Shield uses C-Channel technology to increase strength and stiffness especially in the top and bottom side rails. Previous goalie heads on occasion would fail against high velocity shots that hit top scoop forcing the head to bend backward and allow goals.
The STX Shield has been designed to have increased torsional rigidity in the sidewalls. This prevents the sidewall from warping and bending backward when facing heavy shots. The effective saving area of the shield is ultimately greater by stiffening the side rails and allowing you to utilize the entire face of the head to save shots.

I used this in a tournament, the STX tent let me use it. and loved it it's very flexible maybe too much. but it's light weight and lots of different ways to string it up, plenty of side wall holes.Review by LAx goalie (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Great Head. Its light, easy to string, and has a great grip at the bottom of the head. If you wanna spend the money it's worth it!Review by Gerbs the Goalie (Posted on 10/25/2016)
I play varsity goalie and i had a stx Eclipse and i loved it but i just want to say to you all that have the Eclipse this is just the next level.Review by B (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Amazing head. Ive tried just about every head, and this is just a step above the rest. Expensive, but worth the priceReview by GAgoalie (Posted on 10/25/2016)
With it getting flexible(3 mos) it does not handle well in scooping during wet weather.Review by B-Rex (Posted on 10/25/2016)
I play for John Hopkins university and started with an eclipse head but switched and am glad I did. I would give this head a10 out of 10Review by Goal stopper (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Great upgrade from the eclipse, I think the comfort of the grip is important to me. The c-channel is a great concept. And the head feels real sturdy because of it, still has a little flex but won't over do it. The weight difference between the shield and the eclipse is barely noticeable and easy to adjust to.Review by Andrew E. (Posted on 10/25/2016)
amazing head the hand grip to me really I think makes he head better than the rest also very stiff great overall head!Review by beast goalie (Posted on 10/25/2016)
This is a great head. I switched from a Warrior head which I loved too but this one is much more durable. As in any goalie head, in cold weather (I haven't experienced too much cold weather with the stick) there is a greater risk of it breaking but so far it has held up well. I bought it at the Monkey Sports store in Norwood and had it strung there too. The sales person did a great job explaining the differences of each head to me before I chose this one. The people at Monkey Sports do a really good job with stringing goalie heads as well. Would really recommend this head to any level goalie!Review by Goalie Girl (Posted on 10/25/2016)
this is a good head don't get me wrong but it is not as stiff as people say I used it in the winter season and it was great it was strong but now it flexes at the top as much as the eclipseReview by goalie guy (Posted on 10/25/2016)
This was my third goalie ehad as i have broken multiple others. This head warped after only one game and bends way too much allowing high fast shots to warp your head and go in.Review by Tpow (Posted on 10/25/2016)
This head is great, it's tough and very reliable for use in practice and in games.Review by Jack (Posted on 10/25/2016)
I bought this for my summer/fall club team (Tribal LAX Academy) from THRONEofSTRING strung with my team colors and fell in love with it. It is a sturdy head that stands up to the hard shots. I like the eclipse but a shot to the scoop would sneak past, but that problem is gone with the shield. The handle at the base of the head gives great handle to the crosse. The many stringing options is awesome too, get your own custom feel and pocket. Get this head, you wont regret it.Review by Shutdown keeper (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Great head, used it for 2 seasons and never even got close to breaking, but it did warp and become flexible after a seasonReview by Seth The Goalie (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Overall it's a great head lots of string holes, nice face shapeReview by Lacoka locos (Posted on 10/25/2016)
i used the eclipse and the nemesis 2, but i love the shield the most. The nemesis 2 was a good head, but wasn't as stiff. It also didn't string as well as the shield.Review by matt choi (Posted on 10/25/2016)
You could probably find a better one for a cheaper priceReview by lb (Posted on 10/25/2016)
It was good and then it snapped near the top of the hand grip. But lasted me 6 months. I play a lot and very competitive. And I will be getting another one to replace my broken one.Review by Mitch the Goalie (Posted on 10/25/2016)
Very good headReview by Connor (Posted on 10/25/2016)
This head takes shots to the blade of the head very well. Very strong head. The best part has got to be the throat, it is very easy to grip. Love it, wont use another head unless a better one comes out.Review by Jack (Posted on 10/25/2016)
