Choosing Lacrosse Gloves

Lacrosse gloves are an essential piece of protective gear for every lacrosse player. Lacrosse gloves are worn to protect the hands from bruising while playing. When choosing lacrosse gloves the first thing to look for is padding. All lacrosse gloves have heavy padding on the tops of the fingers and also around the wrist. This heavy padding on lacrosse gloves helps to protect the hands from being hit by a stick during play.

The palm area of quality lacrosse gloves are made of leather or a leather-like material. This provides a comfortable grip when gripping the lacrosse stick. Around the palm area of lacrosse gloves there is thick padding for protection. All lacrosse players need to wear lacrosse gloves regardless of the position they play. The lacrosse sticks are very hard and can cause bruising if they were to hit you.

Lacrosse gloves come in a variety of sizes. Most manufacturers of good lacrosse gloves size their gloves using small, medium and large. However, the more accurate way to size your lacrosse gloves is through measurement. The proper way to measure for lacrosse gloves is to measure the distance from the end of the elbow pads to the tip of your fingers with a tape measure. This will be your lacrosse glove size.

It is always best to size the lacrosse gloves slightly larger if you are unsure of what size to get. Slightly larger lacrosse gloves won't affect play and will do their job of protecting the hands and wrists. Lacrosse gloves come in a variety of different colors and color combinations to coordinate with most uniforms. Some lacrosse gloves have additional comfort features to control moisture and to help let the hands breathe.
